@m1chman9opie: While there are no specific rules, it is said that in Japan, it was originally natural to stand on the left side, as samurai used to carry their swords on their left, and walking on the left ensured that the swords would not collide with other. However, in Osaka, a theory suggests that when they hosted the World Expo in 1970, they adopted the Western influenced right-standing-rule for that event, and never switched back. In Japan each region has a different escalator etiquette and if you are unsure which side to stand on, there are guide arrows on the floor or you can always follow the people in front of you. #japan #osaka #tokyo #kansai #escalator #escalatoretiquette #travel #traveltiktok #japantravel #japantraveltips #traveltips #fyp #japantrip
