@voka.io: Inside the lungs: How alveoli work - 3D visualization (part 1) When you inhale, air travels down your trachea, through the bronchi, into smaller bronchioles, and finally reaches the alveoli—tiny, balloon-like structures at the very end of the respiratory tree. These alveoli are where oxygen enters your bloodstream and carbon dioxide is expelled. But there’s more going on inside these air sacs than you might think! One of the key players in keeping your alveoli healthy are the Alveolar Macrophages—your lungs’ immune warriors. Their job? To keep the alveoli clean and functional by engulfing and digesting debris, bacteria, and other harmful particles that make their way into the lungs. These cells work tirelessly to protect your lungs and ensure your breathing remains smooth and efficient. In this video of VOKA, we’ll explore how the alveoli function and the incredible role Alveolar Macrophages play in keeping your lungs clean and healthy. Stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll dive deeper into the fascinating processes of gas exchange and surfactant production!
