My dream was to be a writer from the time I was 10 and I won a writing contest at age 14 and had my poem published. (I also wrote an entire novel by age 15) On the way home from the awards ceremony my mom was like- maybe we could consider it as a career, but it’s too hard to make it- so you should be a teacher.

I think some parents think their kids will always be 100% comfortable with them no matter how the parent acts. Like mate, those kids aren't babies. You gotta reaffirm that comfort now.
