Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has labelled the International Criminal Court’s issuing of an arrest warrant for him as “a black day in the history of nations”. Judges at the International Criminal Court (ICC) have issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu, former Israeli defence chief Yoav Gallant, and Hamas leader Ibrahim al-Masri, commonly known as Mohammed Deif, for alleged war crimes connected to the October 7 attacks by Hamas and the Israeli military response. Israel has previously claimed to have killed Deif, but Hamas has not confirmed his death. The ICC said there were grounds to believe Netanyahu and Gallant were criminally responsible for starvation in the Gaza Strip and persecution of Palestinians.
