Rents are low because landlords have no costs to keep a properties. No property taxes, condo fee near 0, no tax on rents so it is net income. Few own a Condo over 70 years so your point is moot.

after 70 years, you can renew your property for a small fee, not as much as when you first bought it. i know legally the government can resell or seize your property but in reality it won't

There are two things: the house and the land. When you buy a property, you actually buy the house and the 70 years use of the land which in most cases is owned by the whole country.

2050 you have no value in your property and you sell at a loss or reup the lease. We have a land lease in NYC until 2152 for $22k a year

On the "Renting is better than buying" this is true 😂 my aunt brought a property just outside out Shenzhen for like 2 million Yuan, and now that same apartment layout is selling for like 800k Yuan

well basically the property right can be renewed with a really low fee（like a few thousand yuan）,so the property right is the least to worry about.

We could use something similar to the 70 year rule in Norway because there are so many houses and properties that are abandoned and owners do nothing.
