And sometimes “parents helping” doesn’t mean “gave money for a down payment” but can mean “paid for college so they didn’t have an obscene amount of debt and were able to get a mortgage”

Some parents don't help at all and as soon as you turn 18, make you pay rent making it almost impossible to save to move out in the first place

Hi, millennial here in Texas. I have purchased two homes with zero help from my parents. Matter of fact, my partner and I are usually the ones who loan OUR parents money and/or buy things they need.

The only way we were able to afford our home is because his grandmother passed and left us enough to cover our down payment and closing costs. We tell everyone that because we feel lucky.
