You need a special education lawyer. The school pays for the attorney once you settle. If she was kicked out of school they already violated her IEP for contingency services.

When I was in school, my mother just sent a note saying, “ please excuse her absence.“ And that was that! If we went on vacation, she notified them that I would be gone for a week, they sent the work.

My kid missed 1 day over what was allowed & they put me & 14 others in jail. They sentenced us to 10 days, but we only served 3 bc everyone’s families raised hell. I immediately started homeschooling.

We don’t send county attorney notices until it’s 20+ UNEXCUSED absences. Meaning we did not hear from the parents at all. Even then, our CA has never brought a case against anyone. This is insane.

I’m so confused, are doctor notes not acceptable??? Our county allows written notes from the parents as excuses. Could you not have found a doctor to excuse her after the fact? I’m just confused!

I’m in New York City Teacher and we have kids who are out 40 days 50 days. Never once have I heard of a parent going to jail because of this we can’t even get ACS involved.

You can have her soecialist write a note to exclude her from the attendance rules. Simply from her autism but with her having SA to deal with anxiety etc, shouldn’t have any problem.

on East TN, truancy doesn't get involved until there are 18 absences. excused or not! something isn't right here... they cannot do this!
