Waxflower Bar, Brunswick East This will always be one of my favourite wine bars in Melbourne, and for good reason. Waxflower consistently delivers, with amazing service, spinning vinyls, and a rotation of DJs that make the vibe truly special. It had been two years since my last visit, and I was thrilled to find it just as fantastic as I remembered. Here’s what we enjoyed: 🍞 House-made focaccia, cultured butter – Light, airy, and even better than I remembered. The butter was absolutely perfect. 🐟 Waxflower ceviche, tiger’s milk – Fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavour and texture. 🌿 Chargrilled asparagus, tropea onion, pistachio, quinoa – This might have been my favourite dish. Crunchy, perfectly charred, and absolutely delicious! 🐠 Chargrilled market fish, yuzu kosho, brown butter – A beautifully cooked, flavourful dish. The fish could’ve been slightly firmer, but it was still brilliant overall. 🥔 baby potatoes, yellow chilli & chives: the best potatoes I ever did eat 🍷 Orange wine – Fragrant, fruity, and so delicious. The staff give excellent recommendations if you’re not sure what to pick. 🍸 Negroni – One of the best I’ve had in ages—seriously delicious. Waxflower is a must-visit wine bar in Melbourne.
