Getting here is easy. It’s about a $5 taxi ride from the Malecón, or if you’re looking to save a few pesos, hop on the local bus for around 60¢ and get off at the Punta Negro bus stop. From there, you’ll make your way down a long, straight concrete staircase that leads directly to the beach below. As you descend, the views just keep getting better, and by the time you reach the sand, it feels like you’ve stumbled onto one of Puerto Vallarta’s best kept secrets. Unlike many of Puerto Vallarta’s more popular beaches, Playa Punta Negro has a semi private feel. That also means you’ll want to come prepared. There are very few vendors and almost no services, so be sure to bring your own drinks, snacks, umbrella, towels, or anything else you’ll want during your visit. What you get in return is absolutely worth it. Soft golden sand, dramatic rock formations, crystal clear water, and incredible views in every direction. Look one way and you’ll see the skyline of downtown Puerto Vallarta stretching along the bay. Look to either side and you’ll be surrounded by lush mountains that embrace the coastline, creating one of the most scenic beaches in the area.
