My nan never throws breadcrumbs away.. she always collects it and puts to the dogs or chickens food. There is really no need to do it now but she said she just can’t do that

я коли бачу як в фільмах,відео і т.п. іноземці їдять а те що не доїли викидають в смітник...я кожен раз берусь за голову і така:"куда ти його викидаєш,наготували цілу гору а тепер викидаєте!?"

my great grandma who passed last year (she was 95) her and my grandma her daughter went through this and she told me that all they ate was rotten fish and anything that they could find 🥺

моя бабуся хоч і народилась в 34, ніколи не залишала їжі, годувала нас як можна більше, навіть крихти, все йшло на крайняк собаці(її можна зрозуміти, в ті роки не знали, що так не можна). Кидала насін

Мого прадіда роркуркулили, всю їжу віддавав дітям. Він помер від голоду в ліжку, моїй бабусі було 8 років, вона якраз була поруч з ним.

Generation memory is strong. Even now having access to any sort of food, I buy as much as I can eat and it Hurst to throw anything away, even when it's gone bad🫠

I was just talking about this elsewhere. It’s deep rooted in the Ukrainian diaspora too. From excessive food preserving to babas who urge you “їсти! їсти!” every time you see them.
