@pov_husband: IYKYK. But we love Five Guys, especially their fries. As a burger shop owner let me break down the cost for you. - Buns $0.25 - Patty $3.30/lb. The good quality stuff can go up to $5.00/lb so let's say $1.00 for 1/4lb - American cheese $0.12 per slice - Veggies isn't cheap but $0.30 - Sauce (mayo isn't cheap either) $0.10 - Wrapping, packaging, ketchup, napkins, etc. $0.35 So about $2 cost for a 1/4lb cheeseburger, more or less. Fries cost about $1 per serving, less if you make your own. That's not including the fry oil which costs a lot. Restaurants are trying to be under 30% food cost, some closer to 25%. All to pay the high cost of doing business in CA.
