We were never supposed to be this disconnected from our food. 🌱🥩🍳 Cooking steak and eggs at Polyface Farm reminded me that food is so much more than calories, macros, or a nutrition label. There’s land behind it. There are animals behind it. There are farmers behind it. There’s an entire story before it ever reaches our plate. The more I learn about food, the more I want to get back to the basics: simple ingredients, knowing where my food comes from, cooking at home, and supporting farmers doing things the right way when I can. This meal was nothing fancy—steak, pasture-raised eggs, sourdough, and milk—but eating it while looking out over the farm made me appreciate it in a completely different way. Maybe getting healthier isn’t always about finding the newest diet, supplement, or wellness trend. Maybe sometimes it’s about reconnecting with real food again. 🤍 Know your farmer when you can.
