It’s strange looking back! For the longest time I was told that I’d never be able to use a prosthetic. I remember trying this for the first time, and feeling so overwhelmed with emotions. Frustrated that it was so difficult, upset that I was told I couldn’t, amazed that I was doing it, and a whole other mixture of feelings! To go from being so immobile to spending years with incorrect prostheses was difficult, but pushed through and persevered. To now be lucky to have prosthetists that listen and support me, it feels great, and I’m able to do so much more and I’m learning and trying more everyday! It might seem silly to some, but to have been able to not only swim for the first time with two legs, go into the sea for the first time in 15+ years and then this; it was incredible! To be able to climb up stairs and go onto a water slide was an amazing feeling, and for sure something I never thought I’d be able do again!
