#megumifushiguro #itadoriyuuji Thinking about how it went from Megumi doing anything to preserve the happiness of those he believed were good people, to one of those good people doing anything to preserve his happiness. The cycle essentially completing. The Fushiguro siblings were always looking out for each other. They took care of each other and changed one another. I think Megumi actually helped his sister a lot more than we saw, due to a few hints throughout the manga, where we see Megumi being self-sufficient. But due to their last interaction and his thoughts towards himself, any care he put towards Tsumiki never lived up to the care she put into him. Megumi did a lot to keep his sister safe,. He became a sorcerer even though he didn’t want to be one so they could have financial support and wouldn’t have to go the Zen’in - trusting a random stranger (Gojo) to do so. He thought that even if he could never earn a life of happiness and fulfillment at least Tsumiki could. And when she is cursed, he continues to think that way and tries everything to break the curse so she can go back to her normal and happy life. When she’s dies, Megumi’s entire reason to continue is destroyed. The very person he became a sorcerer for and continued living for dies and he has no compass show him the way anymore. The only good thing about him is gone. But then Yuji comes along. And it is SO important that Yuji takes on the weight of saving Megumi. Whilst rereading through the manga I never realised how much Yuji relies on Megumi. From the moment Megumi requests he lives, Megumi obviously takes him under his wing, seeing him as his responsibility. We know that. But I’ve realised is that Yuji actually relies on that responsibility A LOT. Not just for info on curses and techniques, which he definitely looks to Megumi for answers about, but also emotional reactions and info. The greatest example of this would be when they meet up after Shibuya; Megumi takes on the weight of his self-loathing and essentially replaces it with ambition to save him. During the culling games, we notice Megumi pointing out odd behaviour and correcting him, such as when Yuji says he doesn’t trust Hana/Angel and says as such, he points out he was acting weird and to apologise, to which Yuji agrees and opens up about fearing she would replace Kigisaki. We especially see this ‘reliance’ Yuji had for Megumi after he’s possessed by Sukuna. He instantly goes back to his self-sacrificial thought process, which we see when he says ‘I’ll eat anything’. Megumi was literally his anchor in a way. Now, this is important, because when Yuji comes in contact with Megumi in 266 he is essentially take the responsibility off Megumi’s shoulders and saying he will be the one to weigh the responsibility from now on. That Megumi doesn’t have to keep living if he doesn’t want to, if he won’t be happy, but that Yuji would happily shoulder the responsibility with him if that is what it takes. Everything Megumi had done for him; educating him on Jujutsu sorcery, asking him to be saved, protecting him, taking on the toll of his actions (like how Megumi keeps people dying due to him eating the finger a secret from him), and his emotions - he is giving back by doing the same for Megumi. Allowing him to open up, allowing him to choose death or life, but being emotionally open to him in return - that is what saves Megumi. Someone shouldering the burden of responsibility with him. And that all stemmed from his want to protect his sister. I hope that makes sense!
