Personally i would have pulled the boom across, but i see you need to have the spinnaker sheet in hand. Very complicated!

It's not as bad as when me and a mate on a topaz managed to both get hit by the boom and both go overboard. we were wearing helmets thankfully.

I'm terrible at sailing and a beginner but try pulling the main sheet tight before the gybe so the boom has less room to swing and get out of controll
