My Core Fitness Pillars:
Strength • Cardio • Steps • Yoga/Pilates I believe a strong, capable body comes from variety…bc you can’t put fitness in a box, and why would you want to? Strength training builds muscle and gives you a strong foundation. Running and cardio build your aerobic base and cardiovascular endurance. And yoga + Pilates support it all by improving mobility, core stability, body awareness, and joint health, helping address some of the common weak points that can show up when you’re doing a lot of high-impact or strength-based training. This balance is what hybrid fitness means to me: training for more than just an outcome. We’re training for a good, long life of feeling at home in our bodies. Building a functional, resilient body that can perform well, stay strong, and go the distance!! Running, especially, has been one of the biggest teachers in my fitness journey. Yes, it’s high impact, but it also has a way of quickly exposing where your body needs more strength, stability, mobility, or recovery. When I started dealing with recurring pain points, I added more consistent strength training with heavier weights, along with yoga and Pilates. What started as a way to support my running eventually turned into a genuine love for movement as a whole. And that’s why I’ll never be someone who tells you to only do steps, only strength train, or only run. Your body benefits from different types of movement, and honestly, it’s so much more fun when you keep things interesting. You don’t have to do everything at once, either. Start somewhere.
Maybe it’s a mat Pilates workout in your living room. Maybe it’s lifting a little heavier. Maybe it’s running your first mile. Maybe it’s simply getting 5,000 more steps than you usually do. Start with what you can, and then keep building. Not for a season. Not for a six-week challenge. For the rest of your life. #HybridFitness #FitnessRoutine #StrengthTraining #RunningTok #hotyoga
