the rest of the world has regular traffic lights with a flashing amber light for this which is just as effective

do people just drive around not reading signage? The first time I ran into these I was a bus driver and it took me about 10 seconds to read the sign and understand???

In canada we just use a normal set of traffic lights but it flashes green until a pedestrian presses it

I am not a fan of Hawk signals. A normal signal head that everyone understands would’ve been better. Along with DDI’s, Florida is on a kick of installing so many of these things.

in Victoria, Australia, if we have such a light, it'll flash yellow, meaning proceed with caution, there's also typically a sign with it saying give way to pedestrians
