We have that with the 8 speeds used in Chrysler products. No recommendations for service (Filled for life) Yet the trans manufacturer recommends a fluid filter change at certain miles.

Manufacturers are simply trying to create the “lowest cost of ownership”. Same as 10k oil changes. They sell high monthly payments and low cost to maintain; and then people can’t afford major repairs.

my 05 2005 f150 just hit 50,000 miles I've had it serviced every 3000 miles as far as oil changes, tire rotations and filters etc should I do a trans flush and fluid and filter change truck is mint

When we figured out things like 10k mile oil changes are pushed by epa. We figured out the gov is the reason for most failures/problems in late model vehicles.

lifetime fluid and filter is a lie, but mfg's don't make money on used sales. they realize that now and it shows. I'm happy with my pre 2005 rigs and I'm staying there until something changes.
