you realise Japan already surrendered before the bombs were dropped. USA needed to test it and show force to Russia

Truman dropped them because he knew they’d never stop. I also don’t think anyone knew the extent of the devastation

And remember comment section, American government generally doesn’t care about Unit 731 and that isn’t a good reason for nuking civilian areas

I recently moved to Asia from Aus... I am astounded by how involved Asia was in WW2. In school we learn about England, France, Poland, germany turkey, america and Japan and that is it. It's been crazy to see that World War meant... WORLD.

I went there and had a class on it. she was thorough in only explaining why the US was bad and why war was bad but none of the reason Japan was bad.

Japan would have surrendered if allowed to keep Emperor as figurehead only as their only condition. USA pushed to use bombs to demonstrate to world and USSR. The rest of your points I agree with.

Idk in the memorial about the US commiting the biggest crime against civilians in one single action I wouldnt expect them focusing on what the army did

The hedging in the phrase "Manchurian incident" is also interesting to me. In the UK we have elective subjects called GCSEs and in history for WW2 we were taught this event as the Manchurian Crisis
