1. The job market isn’t “bad” per se, it’s just wildly different post pandemic, which makes it feel worse (but we’re def in an employers market!). One little tweak to your strategy can lead to a massive breakthrough. 2. Put “AI” on your resume (!!) whatever AI-related keywords are appropriate for your industry. 80% of Fortune 500 companies use Microsoft, so “Copilot” is a pretty safe one. If you’re unsure, try writing “AI Literate” or “AI Curious” in your skills section. 3. Entirely new jobs are being created every day. If you’re super unhappy, you might be in the wrong career for your personality type. Take a career aptitude quiz to gain self-awareness (go to AdviceWithErin.com/quiz to take a free one!) 4. STOP mass ai bot auto applying (please) if you want to build a career and find an amazing job. Sure, it sounds like a good concept - but they don’t actually work, if you do get a job it’ll probably be crappy one that no one else wants. Remember, it’s easy to get a job - it’s hard to build a career. 5. Networking is EVERYTHING. It’s easier to get a job through networking than blind applying online. Networking isn’t scary, you just don’t know how to do it right (let me teach you!). 6. Skills > degrees. A degree will NOT get you a job (in most cases). Online certifications & trainings are going to be popping up EVERYWHERE. Take advantage of them! There’s never been a better time to gain qualifications for cheap or break into tech. 7. AI is going to lead to huuuuge growing pains for every industry. The more you resist it, the more you’ll suffer. Learn how to adapt and articulate your human skills — collaboration, work ethic, attitude, teamwork, communication, etc etc
