The Court of Final Appeal's unanimous decision dismissed government appeals, ending years of legal battles over the unequal treatment of same-sex couples married abroad. Hong-Kong does not recognize same-sex marriages, and therefore some same-sex couples marry abroad. Last September, the top court in Hong Kong ruled that the government should create a framework for recognizing same-sex partnerships.
