@jm_the_pilot: Replying to @Jon-Michael Your average wind turbine will only need about 7 months of operation to produce the amount of energy required to build, install, maintain and decommission that windmill @Mr Global🌎 #oil #gas #greenenergy #green #turbine #co2
it's a TV show and his character is an oil man. these are not facts

I love how he brings up oil used to lubricate the turbines as if it puts anywhere near as much Co2 in the air as just straight up burning the stuff lol

I did the math once and it could make enough electricity to refine it's whole weight in aluminum, very intensive, in a few months.

Tyler Sheridan shows are for people who say they don’t want politics in their shows but really just mean they only want their politics in shows

if this were a problem, the solution would be getting more of the supply chain off fossil fuels. not just say "eff it" and keep drilling

Scootington Puff :
If a wind turbine couldn’t offset its carbon footprint then it would be producing 0 power. Nobody would ever build one, they’d just burn oil.

The fun fact to point out is this show is based on a podcast that is produced by a parent company that's invested in the oil and gas industry

It's a shame that the nature of algorithms is designed to not provide candles to those in the dark and instead hand them to those already standing in the light.

So many great LCAs out there on wind, EVs, etc. One example people forget is those oil wells take electricity to continuously pump.

My biggest issue with wind power is that I don’t see it scaling with our needs well. Mostly Nuclear power seems like the best option to me

It should be noted that oil is needed to make it only because it doesn't already exist. Eventually, the next wind turbine will be made with energy from previous turbines, no oil required.

Can the energy generated from turbines create more turbines? Can they power the machines to mine the minerals needed to fabric the materials, can the energy generated from the turbines melt the raw

They’re not useless just horribly inefficient and yeah they can technically produce good amount of power. However it is not dependable, difficult to transfer as actually useful power for homes.
