@nate.b.jones: AI Breakthroughs You Missed Hey everyone! Big updates in AI today, especially on image, video, and agent tech. Here’s what’s new: First, tools like Flux Pro and Luma AI’s Dream Machine are making massive strides in content creation. Flux Pro can generate 4K photos so realistic that 98-99% of people can’t tell it’s AI. Meanwhile, Dream Machine is bringing us short-form videos nearly indistinguishable from professionally shot footage, with improved character persistence across frames. A year ago, this kind of AI-generated video quality seemed impossible. The potential is amazing, but we have to watch out for misuse, especially misinformation. Next, /dev/agents raised $56M to build the “operating system for agents.” This startup, backed by ex-Googlers and Stripe alumni, is shaping the future of agent infrastructure. Investors clearly see the potential in creating tools that power agentic workflows across industries. Finally, the Gemini LLM rumor mill: Google might roll out a feature allowing codebase uploads (1,000 files, up to 100MB) in December. This could mark a huge step toward long-context processing—like giving LLMs the ability to work across entire codebases. It’s not infinite yet, but execs at Microsoft and beyond hint this might happen as early as 2025. These updates aren’t just cool—they show how fast AI is evolving. Stay tuned, because the next breakthroughs are right around the corner. I see a scenario where RAG stays for a while - Unlimited context window still needs good recall. We don’t know if the model will discern what is relevant in the input (job of a RAG)

Any thoughts on Chinese competitors like Minimax or Kling and who is better at specific physical elements like faces, emotions, hands, etc? So much hype that it’s hard to get a handle on each.

If AI enhances our capabilities, does it simultaneously render our humanity obsolete, forcing us to question whether our value lies in our abilities or our imperfections?

I'm googling Flux Pro and a bunch of things that aren't are coming up. I thought I found it, then it said sign in - and the sign in wasn't for Flux

consistent images is still a challenge. This is also huge for ads. having a consistent ai spokesperson can be a huge deal

I’m 58 years old and I kinda get this, but mostly it scares me. I’m glad I’m able to survive off the land if I need to because I may have to walk away from this world.

I suspect that we will see a program that uses AI image generation to generate a completely consistent animated film in the next year and a half or so. Probably combined with AI voice tech.

I’m wondering if there will be soon be some legal requirements to disclose when AI is used to produce imagery. Penalties resulting in fines.

Microsoft released a paper well over a year ago discussing how they were able to handle 1 billion token context windows. Now I’m sure there was some serious drops in retention but…….

I haven’t found an image or video AI yet that will create visuals of our company’s products. They seem to be overly policing copyright even though it’s our products.

RAG will be obsolete only if the quality of AI responses with a context full of noise is acceptable, dont you think ? 🤔

RAG is also useful for limiting data used ifor generative AI, throwing it in the context window feels like a higher risk of blending data. But I have trust issues

You can make full length films right now with AI. The problem is you have to generate scene by scene and use 4 diff apps. And no action scenes.
