Y’all are obviously new to Big Picture. Sean’s palate is narrow: “prestige films,” blockbusters in the 80s and 90s still, “classic films” and he is always confused why anyone would like anything else.

25 years running of being one of the most popular musicals of all time. The source material was a gold mine. Also there were plenty (millions) of hetero 40ish men who loved this. 🤷♂️

compared to other musicals I think there’s more potential in Wicked to be enhanced by film technology, so you don’t leave thinking the stage show would be better

as a huge wicked/musical theater fan, i understand this a bit. there are a number of very popular musical theater shows i’m not sure would be this huge of a hit. cats didn’t get this reception lol. i think there’s multiple factors at play here.
