How do i feel as a therapist when i hear this? 👇👇👇👇 people dont want to say these things to their therapist because theyre afraid it will be too heavy for their therapist. How i do feel as a therapist hearing things like this or even heavier? The truth is, i am not be afraid of being sad. Im not afraid of holding their sad thoughts. Im okay with sinking my teeth into their grief, their desire to “unalive” whatever dark and heavy emotion my client is going through i feel safe to jump in with them. And its my goal to bring my clients to a place where they are not afraid of their emotions either. Please, if you have a good therapist, feel safe to put your heaviest things on the table, because a “good” therapist will feel safe enough in themselves and have the tools to handle these emotions. Dont hide them to spare us. And if your therapist has demonstrated that they are not able to hold it— get a new one. Because youre not too much. #therapy
