STORYTIME: MY EXPERIENCE WITH A LANDLORD WHILE I WAS IN ND2 IN POLYTECHNIC 😭💔 Let me tell you people what I experienced when I was in ND2 in polytechnic in Bida. Our landlord was a lecturer in the school, and because he was a lecturer, we believed that we were going to be in safe hands. We paid a lot of money for the lodge because we were told there was water and light. Only for us to move in and discover that everything was a lie! The water in the tank was so dirty that if you bathed with it, your body would start itching, and you would develop rashes. We complained to this man over and over again, but nothing changed. There was no water, there was no light, and we were suffering in a lodge we paid so much money to stay in. Imagine paying for accommodation with water and electricity, only to be fetching water outside for almost two hours, carrying it on our heads back to the lodge. That was what we went through! Sometimes, we even contributed money to get electricity, only for NEPA to come and disconnect the light because the landlord owed unpaid bills. It got to a point where we decided to report him to the school security and the school authorities. Do you know what this man did? He threatened us with our matriculation numbers, saying we would not graduate! Can you imagine? Students who were only asking for the basic things they had already paid for were being threatened with their academic future. The most painful part was that when we tried to report him to the school authorities, even when they heard his name, nothing was done. He was a lecturer and an indigene of the town, and we were just students. So, we suffered. We stayed in darkness for the whole semester. We struggled to get water, struggled to survive, and still had to face our academic responsibilities. Honestly, the experience left me with so much anger. Till today, I believe that nobody should treat people the way we were treated. Later, I heard that the man had died. According to what I heard, he was praying when he collapsed and died. Now, let me be honest with you people. I was angry with this man because of everything we went through. When I heard that he had died, I didn’t feel sorry for him. I know that death is a serious thing, and I’m not celebrating anybody’s death, but the pain and frustration we experienced were real💔. At some point I have to let go , may his soul rip 🙏#fyp #blowthisup #trend #viral Imagine being a student, paying so much for accommodation, suffering every day, and being threatened when you ask for what you paid for. My question is: why do some people use their positions to intimidate those who cannot fight back?
