This cutter is one of the tools that has saved me SO much time over the last few years because 1. It can cut both ways, and 2. It can stay on the brake while it’s being used. All other cutters I’ve used over the years only cuts one way and you have to remove it completely from the brake to bend any metal. I bent 50 pieces of 11’ window trim today without removing the cutter once. Let’s say it takes about 20 seconds to take the cutter off, hang it and then walk back 11’ to put it back to the side so I can cut. That’s 1000 secs, which is about 17 mins. It also saved me from walking over half a kilometer. The cutter is from @innovatools_inc I’ve used their 2-way cutter for both my Vanmark and my Tapco brake. There’s a link in my bio for a discount code for anything from Innovatools that will save you a bit of cash if you’re in the market for a brake or any accessory for your brake. Also, one little technique I use is to hold one end at the mark with my finger and sight the other end to line up both marks quickly - indicated with the circle in the video. This new Diablo wood demon “Ultimate Finish” blade is pretty neat. If you were to use 220 grit sand paper on the cut edge, it would worsen the finish of that edge. This is achieved through the angle and orientation of each I don’t do much for finish carpentry, but I know that this would have made a huge difference when I built my cabinets from scratch a few years ago. I’ve shown a couple of different ways to bend up window trims with built in siding J-channels before. This video shows a detail that gives the trim a little bit more character. This was a detail I used to use a lot as one of my clients really liked it. The clip at the end of the video shows a project I did almost 20 years ago with this detail. There is a lot that you can do with metal trims, sometimes you just have to be creative and play around and show clients different options. If you haven’t seen this before, I hope that it gives you an idea.
