As someone with actual OCD, thank you for speaking on this. It’s actually so infuriating when ppl make it out to be this silly thing.

Can you also do “manic”/“manic episode”? And also everyone calling every quirky thing they see “a touch of the ‘tism”/“autism” being misused the same way as manic episode is? They’re all dangerous

saying "intrusive thoughts won" is also dangerous because the ONE thing ppl with intrusive thoughts don't want is for them to WIN, and saying they can win can lead them to believe that they (1/2)

I think the best way to put, at least for my experience, is “My brain isn’t telling me ‘Do This Bad Thing,’ it’s telling me ‘You Are Going To Do This Bad Thing’”

gurl why'd I see this before my OCD therapy.😂
One thing I'd add is that "intrusive thoughts" is not really a clinical term - "Obsession" is more appropriate

I always had very dark and intrusive thoughts. As a kid they scared me having sudden thoughts of hurting my classmates. They never went away but I can handle them better now. I’m still uncomfortable

My main ITs are: imagining people I know choking and dying on food, setting things on fire, and poisoning people... it's my OCD, it isn't fun...
