For the love of god, also have them remind folks to sit down after the bride gets to the altar. I’ve been stuck standing THE WHOLE CEREMONY at a few weddings because front row didn’t know to sit 😬

Officiant & former planner here! I announce at the BEGINNING before the person walking walks, where cocktail is supposed to happen, and for immediately family to stay. Then I do it AGAIN at the end!

not for us - we invited the entire TOWN to our ceremony via newspaper bc everyone knew me long story, but reception was private, no announcement just private printed invites.
