Anytime I foster puppies no matter how big/small their breed is I ALWAYS bathe them in their stay, at least I can say they’ve had 1 bath w me & I tried to desensitize to that lol it’s very important

I can’t even imagine having a big dog and not exposing them to these things. My Saint Bernard had baths and nails done at 4 and 8 weeks old. And every week ever since. He’s almost 3 years old now.

Rescued a St. Bernard. Once she got in the tub ,little choice but to trust me. Which she did. 🤪but it was very similar to this! We had to break a lot. No dryer. hand towels. She has been a marvel.

I ask this without judgment, I’m just really curious why he had never had a bath at nearly two years old? Did his owners just keep him outside? Did they maybe wipe him down with a wet cloth and brush him? And if a dog goes that long without being bathed could it/does it cause issues for their skin or coat? My pup needs a bath every few weeks to wash off allergens like grass and she has to have her belly wiped down after every walk, but she has very sensitive skin and allergies.
