Thanksgiving without you hurts like roses in my heart growing thorns. We would go to the Outer Banks North Carolina with my family multiple thanksgivings. Tyler was the type of person pictured below- the type to jump into bushes just to grab your water bottle. My favorite Thanksgiving memory with Tyler was in the Outer Banks. My family rented a beach house, and as we all sat on the upper deck, we realized collectively that we got locked out. As we pondered shattering windows, my husband climbed like a monkey down the beams of the house from the balcony. He then got into the house to let us all in. Our room had a balcony with a giant hot tub, and I sat on Tyler’s lap as we talked about the future. We talked about our dreams, and had philosophical conversation while stargazing. There’s a searing feeling I’ve always felt when everyone’s all together. A feeling of a looming expiration. And as my time has now expired, I can only look back to what once was. I once had everything I wanted, and it was beautiful. If I let my mind wander too far into our memories at the beach, there’s a moment where I might feel that glimpse of wholeness again. Tyler, you were cherished by myself and my family. I wish that our love could have kept you physically alive. But now our love can keep you alive in spirit, eternally. 🦃 This Thanksgiving I am thankful for my love story, flawed as it may be, it was real to me. I am thankful for my family. I am thankful for this platform that is empathetic, and caring. Together we carry on Tyler’s legacy. Say a little prayer for my love tomorrow please.
