Jan's POV: After lunch, we sat under a tree during break. Out of nowhere, Jing stole one of my crackers. "Hey!" "You weren't eating it." "I was going to." "Too late." She smiled while she was chewing. "Are you always this quiet?" "Only around people I don't know." "So you don't know me?" She tilted her head. "Not really." She leaned closer. "Then... we should fix that." My heart was doing crazy things. "How?" "Start with a conversation." She smiled. "But we've been talking all day." "Then... we're making progress." She nudged my shoulder. I smiled. She noticed. "There." "What?" "You're smiling." "What about it?" "I like it." I looked away, she caught me off guard. "You say things like that to everyone." "Maybe..." She said as she casually stole another cracker. "But you're the only one turning red." Then she looked at me. "Jan." "Hmm?" "You should date me." I nearly dropped my water bottle. "What?!" She was lauging. "I'm joking." "Oh." She smiled. "Unless..." I froze. She laughed again "I'm kidding!" "You're annoying." "You don't seem to hate it." "I do." "Sure." Trees away from the field, Ciize quietly texted her girlfriend. Ciize: Your friend is flirting with Jan. Kapook: What did she do? Ciize: Told Jan to date her. Kapook: Again? Ciize: What do you mean again!? Kapook: She's been doing it all day. Ciize watched them from the distance. Jing was watching Jan laugh. She wasn't teasing anymore. This time, she's just smiling. Softly... Ciize: Oh... She actually likes her. When the program ended, everyone started packing up. Jing approached me. "Jan." "Yeah?" "I had fun today." "Me too." "See you around?" She smiled. "Yeah." She waved goodbye before she turned around. I watched her walk away. Milk stood beside me. "You should ask her out." "No." "Why not?" "Because she doesn't mean it." Ciize folded her arms. "How do you know?" "Because..." I watched Jing from the distance, she suddenly turned around. She caught me starring but she still gave me the softest smile. My heart jumped. "...I don't know." "Then find out." Milk nudged me. I took the deepest breath ever. "Jing!" I ran towards her. She stopped before facing me. "Yeah?" My hands were shaking, but it didn't stop me. "You said something earlier." "I say a lot of things." She smiled. "You told me to date you." Her smile slowly dropped. "I was teasing." "I know." "But..." I looked her. "Would you actually go out with me?" Silence. For the first time all day, Jing looked flustered. "...Wow." I instantly panicked. "Sorry." "No." She laughed softly. "I'm just surprised." "Why?" "Beause I didn't think you'd actually ask." "I almost didn't." "But you did." "Yeah." "So..." She stepped closer then looked at me. "Are you asking me out on a date?" "Yes." I gulped hard. Her smile grew wider. "Then..." She held out her hand. "Yes." "Yes?" She laughed. "Yes, Jan." I took her hand. She squeezed it softly. "You really thought I'd say no?" "A little." She leaned closer. "Why?" "Well... you're you." "That's not an answer." She chuckled. "You're kind of intimidating." I smiled nervously. "Me?" "You flirt with everyone." "Maybe." Then she smiled. "But I don't ask everyone out, even if I was kidding." My heart stopped. My face immediately burned. She laughed. "There it is." "What?" "That face." "Stop." "I like it." "Jing." "Okay..." She tugged my hand gently. "Come on." "Where?" "Our first date, silly." I blinked. "Right now?" "You asked me out so there's no time to waste. " We started walking while her hand was still holding mine. Behind us, Milk and Ciize were losing there minds. "Our friend just got flirted into a date." They watched Jan and Jing disappear down the university hallways, hand in hand. "So where are you taking me?" Jing asked. "I don't know yet." "You don't have a plan, yet you asked me out?" "I thought you'd say no." Then we both started laughing for this spontaneous date. For once... I didn't mind being flustered.
