Building a Three-Story Cat Paradise for 13 New Rescues A kind-hearted fan entrusted me with 13 stray cats, spending over 2,000 yuan on shipping to ensure they arrived safely. With dozens of little strays already in my mountain courtyard, I knew introducing new cats could be stressful for them. Unfamiliar with the terrain, they might run off and get lost, possibly becoming strays again. Determined to prevent that, I set out to solve their housing problem before their arrival. I planned a three-story cat house, laying wooden boards on each floor. Even before the guests arrived, my resident cats were eager to test out the new digs. I added stairs to each level, cutting out cat holes with a jigsaw. Using reclaimed wood from the firewood pile for the stairs, I ensured sustainability. To test the sturdiness, Dundun, our heftiest cat, went up and down effortlessly - quality approved! Next, I built the roof frame, connecting it to pillars with long screws. I intentionally made the roof space larger, adding two wooden boards to create a cozy attic, complete with its own staircase. Dundun, now appointed as the quality inspector, gave his nod of approval after thorough testing. The other cats were already in love with the new house - even falling asleep amidst the construction! Sealing the third floor with wooden boards created a perfect sleeping area. I cut out two front windows for ventilation and painted the exterior frame with pink eco-friendly paint. The attic was wrapped in wooden boards and painted white to protect the wood and enhance durability. I took a moment to pick up deliveries: mats, cat food, cat litter, cat bowls, and even electric heating pads designed specifically for cats. I knew the little ones would be thrilled with these comforts. Thank you. Back to work, I installed the windows - the pink and white combination looked fantastic. I sealed any gaps with silicone to prevent drafts and added roof tiles. This roof structure, which I've used on many cat houses, is simple to install and highly effective against rain. I added protective netting to the first and second floors, allowing the cats to come down and bask in the sun during the day. As I worked, it began to rain - a perfect opportunity to test for leaks. Thankfully, the house remained dry inside. The cat building was now complete. The first floor serves as the toilet, with a hollow mesh to help disperse odors. The second floor is the dining and play area, while the third floor and attic are for sleeping. One side of the house can be opened for easy feeding and cleaning.
