Schumer said. “The people of Ukraine did not start this war; Vladimir Putin did.” On Tuesday, President Trump said President Zelensky “should have never started” the war after the Ukrainian leader reacted angrily to his country not being invited to a high-level meeting between the U.S. and Russia in Saudi Arabia. On Wednesday, President Trump doubled down, calling President Zelensky a “dictator” and accusing him of misusing U.S. aid after President Zelensky said the American president was “living in this disinformation space.” “He refuses to have Elections, is very low in Ukrainian Polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden ‘like a fiddle,’” President Trump wrote on social media. “A Dictator without Elections, Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left.” Sen.
