@your_favorite_contractor: This tool comes in two different sizes also. So that way we're using pressure treated and you want it tight. so it'll dry out and leave gaps in the decking. or you can get it with 3/16 of a gap for composite decking because you know it's not going to be shrinking. Built a 24’x8’ PT porch last year with this, worked well. Yes it has a little gap after it dries out, about 1/4”. Holds just fine. Boards have not loosened up, no creaking, no splitting.

I see it eventually splitting and popping loose from weather exposure due to just toe nailing it. Not catching a lot of meat with it.
