I can’t believe the Miss Houston pageant is already over! I had so much fun and I am so happy for the new Houston queens, they both are deserving of the titles. Winning Miss Congeniality is just a testament to my character and how I strive to carry myself everyday. I prayed every night for this pageant, but I never prayed to win. I did want to win of course, but I wanted to achieve more than that, so I just prayed that I would have the power to impact the other contestants, the judges, and everyone that weekend in a positive and encouraging way. I prayed that people would be able to see God’s true light shine through me. Winning was never my main objective and with both of my dear friends’ anniversaries for when they passed coming up, I made a promise to myself that no matter what, I was going to show up for other contestants this weekend. I knew deep in my heart that this was going to be a special weekend. There were so many signs leading up to this weekend and also during the pageant, there were signs telling me that it was going to be a special weekend. I remember after they announced the top 5 for the Miss contestants, I went backstage and just sat down in my gown and was a little disappointed. We all experience this feeling of disappointment when you have worked so hard for a pageant and you don’t even place, but a large group of the Teen queens approached me as I was sitting there basically sulking, and they said to me, “We just wanted to let you know that we were rooting for you the whole time.” That may not be the exact words they said because I don’t remember the exact words, but they were telling me to not give up and that I was incredible and they were just giving me so many words of encouragement. I remember saying in our Miss Houston group chat that I was once a teen queen and that if any teens needed help or advice they were always welcome to reach out to me. I have never in my life experienced a moment like that and I will always remember it as a reminder of what happens when you encourage others, you will always recieve the same encouragement back. To those teens that approached me, thank you so very much! From the bottom of my heart, thank you for encouraging me to never give up and to keep my head up. I really needed to hear that from you guys, and I can definitely say the same for you, y’all were absolutely incredible and I know y’all are special. You guys have a bright future and always remember that life may be tough and it may tear you to pieces sometimes, but always have faith and always remember that no matter what, YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE! That also applies to everyone reading this. No matter what, you are making a difference in someone’s life right now! #fyp #pageant #pageanttok #pageantlife #roadtomisstexas #roadtomissusa #roadtomissuniverse #christiantiktok #God #godisgood #trustingod #houston #houstontx
