Pay a worker more money, and they’ll spend it putting it back into the economy. Give corporations more money, and it goes straight to shareholders.

“Billionaires shouldn’t exist” is the worst take. Billionaires, in reality, don’t exist. No one has a billion dollars in cash. It’s in businesses WORTH billions. It’s in warehouses, infrastructure, inventory, etc etc. all of which are used to fund other people’s salaries. Jeez! - Idiocy.

Hot take. Breaking even is success, every bit above even should lift everyone up , CEOs do not deserve tens of millions with millions more to shareholders .

Maybe CEO's could have their salaries and bonuses capped? Maybe grocers shouldn't be public companies, so that dividends aren't the priority? Maybe the minimum wage needs to be a livable wage again?

That’s an oversimplification, that worker is doing a lot per hour, so per unit of product, that increased cost is probably pennies, a few more cents for your loaf of bread so they can have a good wage

A worker puts 100 loaves on a shelf in an hour. The grocer passes along that extra $10 wage it comes out to $.10 per loaf. or 1/3 of one % for a $3 loaf, or any other item. Another 1/3% to cashier.

Tesco made £3 billion in profits during a cost living crises... the highest they ever made. I think they can absorb some costs

If I have one employee making $10 more an hour so $400 a week and I sell 4000 loaves of bread a week…that’s a 10 cent increase to cover it. But I don’t just sell bread so it’s even more diluted.

when the expenses to run a business go up, prices raise to pay for the additional expenses... as for the tax thing, he's saying the taxes don't come out of their pocket, it's taken from profits.

what he's saying is that the company will keep its profit the same after the increase in wages, meaning that goods price will increase or manpower will be reduced

Also like the bread prices are increasing regardless. Salaries are stagnant but I'm paying about 3 times what I was paying this time last year on a less quality product
