Even if they don’t sell straight away Nintendo knows they will sell. So they can overproduce initially to prevent going out of stock. It’s a smart move on their part, as it will improve public favour.

I think it’s more likely Nintendo has more working capital from the digital subscription model platforms have built to ensure they CAN produce that many consoles without the same risk for launch

I feel the best way to combat scalpers online is you have to put your driver's license or ID number in and have it limited like 2 a person early on. If someone tries to come back and buy again the license will be flagged and they can't order again. Stores need to also limit how many a person can buy and keep track as well.

My friends pooled their money and bought 5 or 6 Wii U’s. They returned all but one because no one wanted one and there was no shortage
