@k__heloise420: ETA this had nothing to do with currency conversion, this was just realising that despite it being a bargain, said treat was still expensive 🥹 also I am not American. Not a unique experience according to Tokyo tiktok #japantravel
My husband accidentally purchased a $400 steak thinking it was $40 😅😅😅😅😅

How do you not convert any pricing when visiting a foreign country? Doesn’t take more than seconds on an app

I have a currency conversion app and it’s amazing you just type in the amount in whatever country you’re in and then it will tell you in USD or Canadian or whatever conversion you want!

I've had the exact opposite experience, my first day in Japan I spent 500 yen at a store and I had a breakdown because in my head 500 is like so much money until I realised it was like 5$ 😅

idk how this happens to people. when I was in Japan I was converting almost every purchase on my phone before swiping the card. then you get a hang of what's $10, $25, $100 etc

From this comment section I’m discovering that majority of ppl don’t regularly have to google conversions for currency, I do this like every other week

Do people not give themselves a budget in the currency they’re spending?… like when I visited the UK I only had so many pounds to spend… is this a different tax bracket?

I keep a tiny notebook on me and add common conversion prices ($1, $10, $50, $100) and what they equal in the other currency. like a reference sheet 😅
