Who needs Easter eggs when you’ve got chocolate hot cross buns? 🍫 Chocolate Hot cross buns (Makes 15 large buns $3.46) 6 cups bread flour 1/2 cup caster sugar 3 tbsp oil 3 tsp cinnamon 3 tsp all spice 1/2 cup cocoa powder 200g dark chocolate chips 3 tsp instant dried yeast 600mls warm water Pinch of salt (To add fruit, combined 300 g of dried fruit with 2 cups of boiling water to rehydrate the fruit. After 1 hour of soaking, drain the remaining water and add in the fruit to the dough for the last 1 minute of kneading) Cross- 1/3 cup plain flour 2 tbsp water Glaze- 1 tbsp caster sugar 1 tbsp water Combined all your bun ingredients except for the choc chips. Knead together for 5 minute. Add in the choc chips and knead for another 1 minute. Rest for 1 hour. Form into balls and place onto lined tray. Rest for 30 minutes. Combined the cross ingredients and pop into a snap lock bag. Pipe over the buns to create crosses. Bake at 180c fanforced for 20 minutes. Combined your glaze ingredients, heat in the microwave for 30 seconds and mix.
