Salary cap does not necessarily mean owners get it. Depends on how what input it. NBA has soft caps and players getting more and more every year.

do need a cap, also differance of contracts needs to end. every sport but MLB has a cap, theres a good reason for that. it needs to happen fast

Salary cap no. AAV being applied to every year yes. No deferred BS. No singing bonus BS. Just AAV. Ohtani on the books for $2mil per year is ridiculous. Same with the Snell bonus.

They spent less because Ohtani is getting paid 10 years from now. Add his $70 mill and they have the second highest payroll. Betts and a couple other players are having money deferred.
