@drlesliedobson: Australia’s new bill proposes banning kids under 16 from using social media! I’ve always said it’s safer to keep kids off social media—but is this the right solution, or is it going too far? 🤔 I’d love to hear your thoughts: • Is this a step toward protecting kids online? • Or does it raise concerns about how such a rule would even work? Let’s talk about it in the comments! #OnlineSafety #KidsAndSocialMedia #ParentingTips #DigitalWellness #SocialMediaRegulations #AustraliaNews #ProtectOurKids #FamilyFirst
If it keeps parents from monetizing their kids then yes.

as an Australian mother, I believe it's a step in the right direction. Prevention is key here. it's not about control, it's about health & safety measures. It's protecting, educating & saving lives.

I don’t think we should be able to do anything until mid- to late-20s. When our prefrontal cortex reaches maturity.

Yeah nah. I am totally opposed to this proposal. If this passes it will be a massive breach of privacy. Why? Because all Australians irrespective of age will be required to provide formal identification to gain access even if access is already obtained. It’s a way to gain our digital identity and control us. We also had/have another proposal in play in a guise about our communication as well meaning we couldn’t speak negatively or what could be perceived as negatively against any minority group. It in face is to prevent us from speaking out when the govt/legal agencies/armed forces etc is wrong doing. The things they do when we are sleeping

I’m Australian and was following this legislation as it was going through the house & senate. What a lot of people are outraged about is the lack of transparency and specifics on how this will be implemented. They made a claim but haven’t agreed on what apps are covered. And have said it’s the apps companies problem to solve.
