@deltatrendtrading: Got this graphic from the guys at Elm Wealth, who gave a great lecture at the Columbia Business School last month. They gave a few very strong arguments against day trading, and ESPECIALLY against day trading single stock options. . . . . . #finance #education #college #ivyleague #daytrading #investing
It’s because financial reports typically come out during off hours or weekends, and that’s what drives long term growth. Intraday movement is more noise than price discovery

Would the Dt of the night not also be very small? Could you explain further on why that is not the case?

Then thing is when you don’t have any money, and you can just start getting 10k payouts, its worth way more than just getting a 50% return to a 500$ investment

math models need certain assumptions to work, and you have to state them in your arguments. and the assumption that markets are efficient: i would oppose that the markets are never (fully) efficient.

This doesn’t prove much… Especially for trading. Price change doesn’t equal volatility. And typically trading has leverage where investing doesn’t.

This would just mean selling options intraday should net huge returns? If all the volatility happens overnight?

Plot is wrong. Need to plot open to intraday high, and open to intraday low.

i disagree with this to an extent. nothing you’ve said is wrong, but you make the assumption people are day trading in place of a real portfolio. rotating funded profits into a port is ideal imo

This guys one of tik toks hidden gems, would say this is because there’s less volume after market and pre market so less volume can move the market further?
