@wilddolphingirl: The astonishing behavior of pink river dolphins bothering a black caiman was caught on camera by @jhonathabc 😅. These large crocodiles primarily feed on fish but can sometimes attack dolphins. In the video, at least three dolphins circle around the crocodile. It’s intriguing—why are they doing this? Could it be that the crocodile recently attacked one of their kin? Or do they simply dislike it and decided to show, as a group, who’s in charge? We don’t know the answer, but the moment is truly remarkable. Amazon pink dolphins, or boto (Inia geoffrensis), are incredibly fascinating cetaceans! They inhabit the Amazon River and its tributaries in Brazil, Bolivia, northern Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela (the upper Rio Negro), and the Orinoco River. According to some estimates, the boto population is around 15,000 dolphins. Amazon pink dolphins are listed as “Endangered” in the IUCN Red List (International Union for Conservation of Nature).
