The carts are inside. Items for sale are outside and not some you want to push around while buying other things. A lawyer could argue the door is no longer the threshold for theft.

I would have said... show me a sign that says do not open products or u will b arrested for theft. go 2 HD or lowes and how many plants are PAST the register? threshold, register store parking lot?

I want to side with him, but the fact he threw the package inside the store makes me think he was stealing it. they would have no barcode to ring it up if he did try to pay.

I open things all the time in a store before I buy them..I’ve ex specially the way boxes are damaged at the stores like they are now.
