I came here to make a cocky comment about just getting a retractable cord, but realized this method keeps the cable off the floor the whole distance.... I am now officially impressed.

For anybody else doing this: you can zip tie the hooks while sitting on the ground then hang it on the cable.

I believe the point of doing this is to get the cord off the ground while you are working. Good idea.

Put a twist in the cord every time you attach the cord to the carabiner and it’ll work better.

You should probably unplug the cord before hammering so close to it.

this is genius. even better than a retractable, which still drags around the floor tripping everyone.

When you put it through each hook, try to mimic the way you want it to roll when you retracted back into the wall the hooks should be a little bit smaller and don’t do it while stretching it out do it

Probably should’ve unplugged the cord before you nailed it just for safety

even better, use the other half of the plug for your garage door opener that is on the ceiling then you waste even less length! But I'm just a woman what do I know lol

Depending how high the outlet is in the wall & how tall the ceiling is, you're losing probably 8-10' of usable cord length going up the wall and another 8-10' coming down.

Just don't leave it plugged in all of the time. Extension cords are a fire hazard and can easily get damaged and set fire. This is a fantastic idea otherwise.

Everyone talking about keeping the cord off the ground… these cords are fire resistant, the cords are rated to handle the floor lava. 😅

Why zip tie when you can just put the cord in the carabiner itself?
