Just a few Years ago AOC was serving drinks and now has $27 million. It’s rampant on both sides and we will never see change until this shit stops

I completely agree with this! They shouldn't have to divest- but it should become stagnant during their time in Congress. How does a "civil servant" (NP) have a net worth of over 260Million?

1) only be allowed to buy mutual funds or ETFs. 2) 30 day wait period when the want to buy/selll 3). Keep what you came in with (stocks, private businesses)

Imminently reasonable bill. Keep what you have when you step into office but you’re banned from adding or subtracting to your portfolio/businesses while your in office and for 3 years after you leave

I think a simple solution to this would be that they're not allowed to sell short term with capital gains, so they'd be required to hold their investments for a minimum of 1 year.

once you get elected to office in Canvas, that is the trade-off you are giving up,no trading/selling because you’re making over 100K a year, but career polishing will find a way to circumvent that

You can trade or be an elected official end of story. Also cap salaries and all the benefits that follow after they’re out. Bring them down to a working class level.

As a contracting officer for the federal government, I am not allowed to have a conflict of interest with the companies I am working with. Such as a family member working for them, owning stock or me

it doesn't even matter. their spouses or kids or family will just receive the info and make the trades for them. or they will get an llc and trade under that

Simple solution is force them to use a financial advisor. Allow them to invest money all they want, but the advisor decides how to allocate, Funds only, no individual stocks, no options, etc.

We can play the markets also but we don’t have the intel they do. Hence the rich man and women’s club. No stock trading whilst in office including family members.

I’m fine with them being in a mutual fund or ETF. But buying/selling single stocks and options shouldn’t be a thing. Currently they are to disclose their purchases within 45 days or be fined.

Allowing them to retain stocks would mean they'd collude over who's on what committee based on what stocks they and others own. You'd see bipartisan bills, but it'd be for a whole other reason.
