If you can, go to a private psychiatrist for a diagnosis and pay by cash only. If they have 0 contracts with insurance companies, your diagnosis won't appear visible to the state or other doctors unless you being the papers to them

I get treated like a lost puppy. My weights teacher wouldn’t even let me lift at the same level as other kids even though I was twice their size.

This is true. After my diagnosis I was having a life threatening reaction to a drug and the doctors didn’t believe me and blamed it on “autistic fixations” so I had to save my own life by taking myself off the drug and I was only in 10th grade

doctor here, also adhd dx. that's not something we're trained to do. if you want that try and propose it as something for the dr to look into. I myself need to look into it now.

i got a dr note for my audhd despite the non formal diagnosis on the autism but she still put autism and ADHD, wish all doctors were nearly half as nice because i refuse to get an official diagnosis

Wait what. Getting an autism diagnosis does all that? I got diagnosed at 15 and genuinely didnt really want to and my therapist diagnosed me anyqays. (She also forced me to come out to my parents)

The specific symptom need accommodation doesn’t always work. Especially when most laws or policies are specific to full conditions not symptoms

Trauma disorders also can get you accommodations sometimes (had to use my cptsd to get them for school so I had a chance to graduate, got my deploma so it worked)

I have not pursued a diagnosis for my autism because 1. It costs thousands of dollars and isn’t covered by insurance and 2. This video. I have way to many health issues that are already not taken -

i got a doctors note to get note taking accomodations for audio processing issues (basically they pay someone to go to the classes and take notes to share with those who struggle to take notes)
