Come with me while I take part in the World Bog Snorkelling Championships in Llanwrtyd Wells. I’m not going to lie I had no idea what to expect and was pretty nervous. I decided to do it in fancy dress and chose this turtle costume from Halloween Costumes.com I had lots of people taking photos of me so I think I chose well. I watched a few people take part and then it was my turn. It was pretty cold when I got in but I adjusted quickly then I was off. I felt like I was going quite fast but as you can see, I really wasn’t. The foam in my costume absorbed lots of water so it was like swimming while dragging a dead weight behind you and breathing through a snorkel is not the one when you’re huffing and puffing. Here are the rules: You have to swim the full length of the bog and back again which is 55 metres each way, you have to use a snorkel and you are only allowed to use doggy paddle. I completed it in 4minutes 16 seconds so the world record holder at 1minute 12 was pretty safe. Everyone gets a medal at the end and even though it was raining, spirits were high I absolutely loved it 🫶🏼 See you all next year! #bogsnorkelling #llanwrtydwells #fancydress #visitwales
