7 Black boys from StBon caught on camera! 8 Years later here’s an update #EastLondon #Stbonaventures Eight years ago, I caught seven Black boys on camera. The video went viral. I was shocked 😳 But what grabbed me wasn’t just what they were doing . It was who they were becoming. One of the older boys was teaching and encouraging the younger students. Eight years later, that young man has: Passed all his GCSEs. Achieved two A’s and one A at A-level.* Studied Medicine at UCL. And today… HE’S A DOCTOR. 🩺❤️ That’s why this story matters so much to me. Too often, the portrayal of Black boys I’ve seen in the media hasn’t been positive. So I believe we have to become intentional about catching them doing something great and making a BIG deal out of it. Not just the massive achievements. The small acts of leadership. The kindness. The discipline. The effort. The courage. The moments when they choose to do the right thing. Because celebration cements character. What we celebrate, we reinforce. And sometimes a small act of leadership today is a glimpse of who they will become tomorrow. Inside every classroom is a doctor. A teacher. A leader. A future waiting to be developed. Our responsibility is to create environments where young people feel seen, believed in and challenged to rise. Big up Saint Bonaventure’s in East London. And big up this young man. Eight years ago, you were teaching the next generation. Today, you’re a doctor. That’s what belief, aspiration and agency can look like. ❤️
